Joseph Wong of JW Speaker Lab has assembled his version of TAS (The Affordable System).
Taking the spotlight are his own speakers, the JW Uni two-way sealed-box bookshelf speakers which retail at RM3,800.
The other components are a NAD C328 integrated amplifier (retailing at RM3,450), the Wiim Pro Plus streamer/DAC (RM1,200), 28-inch speaker stands (RM350), the Wireworld Luna 8 interconnects (RM400) and the Wireworld Helicon 162 OFC speaker cables (RM700). The total cost is RM9,900. However, Joseph Wong is offering a special discount and the entire system will be priced at RM8,888. He has also designed a sub-woofer which is optional.

I visited his showroom on Monday to listen to his TAS. His JW Uni speakers are small, but could pack a punch. Paired with the optional sub-woofer, the bass became fuller, richer and deeper. Without the sub-woofer, the JW Uni sounded quite good though the bass was not as full and deep. The sound was cohesive and organic with a good midrange. The soundstage was impressively big with the width being better than the depth.
The JW Uni speakers are sealed-box designs with the crossover at 2.2 kHz. Joseph said the crossover frequency was a bit low but it sounded better that way. The drivers are from SB Acoustics.
