During the Northern International AV Show in Penang in late April, I told John Yew, the boss of CMY Audio & Visual, about my intention to promote what I call The Affordable System (TAS) so that the Millennials and Gen Zers can be lured into the world of audiophilia. I told him that the TAS should cost around RM5,000 which young Malaysians, who are put off by million-ringgit systems, would consider affordable.
John Yew was quick to realise that it was a great way to get the younger consumers to enter the hi-fi market and he told me: “I will send to you five systems to review.”
Yesterday, I received the first The Affordable System from CMY comprising a Pro-Ject Jukebox E, a pair of Fyne Audio F301i bookshelf speakers and QED 79 speaker cables.

The Pro-Ject Jukebox E costs RM2,396 (with the Pro-Ject Brush It record cleaner and Clean It stylus cleaner as free gifts) while the Fyne Audio F301i speakers cost RM2,072 with the QED 79 speaker cables and Pro-Ject Damp It footers bundled as free gifts. Thus the total cost of CMY’s first TAS is RM4,468.
Watch out for the review.
