The turnout on the first day of the Bermuda Triangle of Audio event in the SEA Park area of Petaling Jaya yesterday was quite good.
At TechX’s showroom, many fans of the venerable BBC mini monitor turned up to hear the Rogers LS3/5a Classic and LS3/5a Classic SE being driven by a Willsenton R800i integrated tube amp. Thiban of TechX managed to borrow an old TVC (Transformer Volume Control) preamp and connected it to the Pre-In of the Willsenton R800i integrated amp.
On static display were the Rogers LS3/5a 65th Anniversary edition and a pair of Spendor LS3/5a speakers.
The Western Electric 91E 300B tube integrated amp was used for a while to drive the LS3/5a Classic SE speakers, but it turned out to be not a very good match and the amp lacked the grunt to drive the 15 Ohm and 82.5 dB sensitivity speakers.

Over at Stars Picker, two events took place. On the ground floor, two demo systems featuring DALI bookshelf speakers were set up; these were driven by Cayin tube amps set to triode mode.

The other event at Stars Picker took place at the basement level where the OMNE Audio Hendeka headphones were launched. Three pairs were on demo.
The Hendeka headphone is conceptualised and made by three young Malaysian head-fi enthusiasts — Daniel, Leong Deng Yong (who moonlights as a staff of Stars Picker) and Muhammad Nabil.

Over at JW Speaker Lab, Joseph Wong had also set up two systems using Tsakiridis Devices tube amps to drive his JW speakers. One system had a Tsakiridis Theseus tube integrated amp while the other had a Tsakiridis Aeolos integrated amp.

The Bermuda Triangle of Audio event ends today. Don’t forget to collect stamps from all three hi-fi/head-fi outlets for a chance to win prizes in a lucky draw.
