PMC’s latest Prophecy range of speakers was launched at AV Designs last Friday and judging from what the attendees heard on the demo sessions using three systems, the Prophecy range sounds very good.
The new range has incorporated several innovative technologies such as the Laminair X concept on the vent at the end of the transmission line to improve air flow for less noise and better bass performance. The Prophecy speakers also feature wave guides on the tweeter and dome midrange drivers which also function as protective covers. The two-inch dome midrange driver is also housed in a new dispersion flange geometry for a flat-frequency response and good off-axis performance. This flange geometry is incorporated in a one-piece panel made of a special material which also houses the tweeter.

The Prophecy range comprises the Prophecy 1 bookshelf speakers (retailing at RM19,100), the Prophecy 5 (RM29,900), 7 (RM43,700) and 9 (RM59,700) floorstanders and the Prophecy C centre speaker (RM14,900).

Three demo systems were set up and they comprised:
PMC Prophecy 1 bookshelf speakers, PMC cor integrated amp, Innuos ZENmini Mk 3 music server and Innuos ZENmini LPSU power supply.
PMC Prophecy 9 floorstanders, Bryston Bi integrated amp (used as preamp), Bryston 3B Cubed power amp, Innuos ZENith Next Gen music server/streamer and Bryston BDA 3.14 DAC.
PMC Prophecy 7 floorstanders, PMC Prophecy C centre speaker, PMC Ci45 (two units, surround), PMC Ci30 (4 units, height channnel), PMC 8-2 Sub (two units), PMC 2520-SUB (one unit), ARCAM AV40 processor, Bryston 9B Cubed (L/C/R/Surround) and Bryston 225-4 (height channnels).
LS3/5a sifu Jo Ki conducted the demo on the stereo systems while James Tan conducted the demo on the AV system for an immersive experience.
