Begins Acoustic holds another recording-and-playback session

Colombian violinist Juan Sebastián Castillo-Diaz in action.

Begins Acoustic held another recording-and-playback session on March 28, but I could not attend as I was in Guilin, China, for a short holiday with my wife. So the photos in this post are courtesy of Kenix Chua of Begins Acoustic.

The first recording-and-playback session organised by Begins Acoustic featured EB Duet and simultaneous reel-to-reel tape and DSD recordings.

The second such session featured Colombian violinist Juan Sebastián Castillo-Diaz and recording on 24/96 PCM using a DAW (and SSL Mixer). A matched pair of AKG C414 Limited Edition microphones was used and the recording system was set up by sound engineer Vong.

Juan Sebastián played three songs by Bach, Massenet and Reger which were recorded digitally and then immediately played on the demo system.

Playback was via Madison LE Streamer, Luxman L-509Z integrated amp and Audiovector QR5 SE floorstanders. Cables were from the Tiglon White Tiger series.
