Continuing my view of KLIAVS 2016!
This Panasonic TH-98LQ70 is a nice grand 4K TV which usually retails for RM$179,000. KLIAVS 2016 offer is RM$135,000, for me that’s still more than RM$1,000, per diagonal inch square! Nice picture quality though
Panasonic PT-RZ570 WUXGA projector on demo
However that small 16:9 screen lacks big picture impact!
New to KLIAVS 2016 is APS Racks. Audiophiles and HT fans rejoice for your local hifi & AV furniture supplier, at very reasonable prices! Outlet is at Amcorp Mall

After many years of hibernating, Yamaha finally returned to KLIAVS 2016!
And what a lifestyle concept in warmly comfortable as your home interior design theme!
The lifestyle theme also featured the other “strong” Yamaha product, the motor bike!
All Yamaha audio products were featured, from sound bars to HT AVRs to home hifi. Now if only there was a Best of Decor Award?
In the DNA Audio room, the full range of Project turn tables was presented as display only.
The D&A Audio Visual room also featured Linn Maijk system on demo
Linn Klinax system matched with the lastest KEF Reference series speakers
The new KEF Reference series looked very good in their polished trim on a slim tower design box
The latest 5 series system with decor matching cloth wraps was also on demo as a lifestyle option for modern living rooms
Our resident high end contributor, Mr TE Tan was very much smitten by this Orpheus Absolute series music server & integrated amp, powering the pair of Franco Serblin Ktema speakers. Or maybe he is just attracted to this very innocent looking babe?
However, I must admit that not only the SYT was looking great, this Orpheus Absolute pair of electronics boxes caught my imagination more so!
The only pair of Klipsch Heresy 70th Anniversary was especially brought in for the KLIAVS 2016. It was immediately snapped up by an avid collector by the second day of the show!
WKH(World Klass HiFi) head honcho, Kenny Sea giving his thumbs up for the latest Klipsch speakers
The latest Teac small items were also on display here at the WKH room
BenQ projectors are famous in the value to outstanding performance ratio. Here are the industrial grade smart monitors from BenQ
HiMedia Smart Multimedia Player, a.k.a. TV box from China, featuring 4K resolution, Dolby Atmos & DTS-X surround decoding. Can anyone beat that?
Dong Fong Ipoh, in association with Audio Note Malaysia demo-ed this well rounded but great sounding system by Brinkman turn table, Audio Note integrated amplifier and speakers. Power Line Conditioning & cables by Furutech. Deserves my special mention!
The latest VPI Player plug & play turn table, factory mounted with Ortofon MM cartridge, and come with built in phono stage and head amp! Mat Westfield says they can’t build enough of these little fellas to meet market demand!

Nelson Chia, boss of Center Circle Audio looking very pleased with his demo pair of Rosso Fiorentino Florentia flagship speakers!
The VPI Avenger turn table was on demo with Acoustic Arts tube electronic boxes and the above Rosso Fiorentino speakers. The system sounded good enough to get one of our judges vote for Best Sound of Show!
The VPI Avenger came with an all analog speed drive control box, the first of it’s kind with serial no.0001!
The pair of Florentia speakers was powered by the Acoustic Arts AMP II MK 2 behemoth that is rated at 600W x 2
Unicorn Electronics featured the full line of Cambridge Audio, including speakers!
The Cambridge Audio speakers are previously known as Mordount Short. Now it all make sense!
Unicorn Electronics are also the new distributor for Audioquest in Malaysia
Dream Audio featured the JL Audio subs on HT demo and also the E series and Dominion(review on this little chilli padi coming soon) on display!
Also on demo was Matino, a 65 inch curved screen, UHD 4K, Smart TV. A Dream Audio house brand product, but highly good value, selling just below RM$5k each, comes with 3 years warantty!
Dream Audio’s main feature was a HT system, powered by Sony VPL-VW320ES UHD 4K projector with a 16:9 Dark Star screen. A Denon Blu-ray player & AVR took care of source & Dolby Atmos processor duty with ATI power amps were used to power Adam GTC series speakers matched with a pair of JL Audio Fathom F113 subs in 7.2.4 Dobly Atmos set up. The surround sound quality was stupendous to say the least. Got my vote for Best of AV Experience!
The hardware in Dream Audio’s sucessful HT demo!
Adam GTC series speakers with Magnat Dolby Atmos speakers on top
Living Audio is back again this year with XTZ Dolby Atmos surround speaker system. I felt the sub woofer on the left was set too loud till it covered, and overlap the mid range of the main speakers. At certain scenes in the 13 Hours demo, some LFE effects overloaded the room and became boomy. Nevertheless, one panel judge still voted it for the Best Surround Sound category!
And not to mention a 60 inch TV just ain’t gonna cut it for such a big sounding system!
Audio Art had striped down Magnat amps for us DIY-ers freak to look and drool at
This Magnat integrated amp is a hybrid tube/transistor design come with built in DAC!
My wish came through finally when the Heco Direkt speakers were on demo, with Loite CD player and Magnat tube amp. However the sound did not win me over, but there were others in the judging panel that voted it for Best Sound of Show too!
Next up, the final chapter on KLIAVS 2016 before we announce the full list of Best Of winners!
