Danish speaker manufacturer DALI will be launching its flagship speaker called KORE at the Kuala Lumpur International AV Show 2022 to be held at the end of this month.
This will mark DALI’s entry to the ultra high-end segment of the market. Costing RM388,998 per pair, they are for the discerning audiophile with deep pockets.
The KORE is the culmination of DALI’s research and development into various state-of-the-art technologies to improve the quality of sound reproduction. The technologies include:
DALI Balanced Drive SMC Technology
The DALI KORE introduces the brand-new DALI patented Balanced Drive SMC technology, a new driver topology utilised on the woofers and the midrange. This is a “world first” and combines dual voice-coil differential drive technology with SMC technology. The Balanced Drive SMC technology creates a perfectly linear and symmetrical loudspeaker motor system, free from the inherent magnetic losses and thereby drastically lowering harmonic distortion and compression, and significantly enhancing the dynamic capabilities.
New EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter
The KORE features the new high sensitivity EVO-K Hybrid Tweeter, an evolution of the acknowledged DALI Hybrid Tweeter module. The unique combination of a large in-house designed and manufactured 35 mm dome, and a new high sensitivity version of the ribbon
element, creates an ideal tweeter element. The ultra-broad frequency response, ultra-low distortion, high sensitivity, high-power handling, and wide dispersion, allow the KORE to reproduce the finest and most natural musical details.
Dedicated Midrange Driver
The KORE’s midrange driver is DALI’s first dedicated midrange that has been built from the ground up. This large, high sensitivity, 7-inch driver features a range of technological innovations and brings natural warmth and musical coherence to the all-important midrange frequencies. The midrange includes a new powerful Balanced Drive SMC motor with a neodymium magnet. This is a redesigned version of DALI’s signature wood fibre cone, for a more controlled breakup behaviour, as well as a narrow, low-mass surround design to minimise the unwanted in-band contribution from the surround.
Crossover Innovation
The DALI KORE has been equipped with the finest crossover components available. It incorporates the World Premiere of the new SMC-KORE inductors, which applies the SMC technology for the core material in the cross-over inductors. The SMC-KORE inductors lower the current distortion by up to 12 dB, compared to the commonly used iron powder core inductors. They also offer lower DC resistance, shorter signal path and less vulnerability to crosstalk, compared to air-core inductors.
Regional sales manager of DALI Regional Office, Raj TB, said Kuala Lumpur will be the first destination for audiophiles to listen to the KORE in Asia (after its global launch at the Munich High End). “So that is quite a privileged position to be in,” he said.
He is planning to have a launch ceremony just before the Kuala Lumpur International AV Show (KLIAVS) officially opens at 10am on Oct 28. The KLIAVS 2022 will be held at the InterContinental Hotel, Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur on 28-30 October 2022.
