Northern International AV Show Penang: Speakers from Lithuania on demo

Audiophiles heading to Penang for the Northern AV Show to be held from April 26-28 will be in for an unusual and exotic treat — speakers from Lithuania.

From a company called Silent Pound, a high-end speaker manufacturer from Lithuania, are speakers called The Challenger.

According to Audrius Balciunas, co-founder and CTO of Silent Pound, the speakers boast a unique patented construction that excels in acoustically untreated rooms, exhibiting minimal engagement with the room compared with regular systems.

“We received a best product nomination at the Warsaw AVS Exhibition 2022 from Soundstage Magazine: Best of Warsaw Audio Video Show 2022,” he said.

From the website, it is learnt that sound diffusion optimization in an acoustically untreated room was Silent Pound’s main goal and to achieve it they employed modern CAD and methods of mathematical modelling.

“Quality acoustic treatment of your room often can and usually does exceed the cost of quality speakers. Therefore, it makes more sense to enhance sound quality by directing sound waves toward the listener while trying to radiate as few waves to reflective surfaces as possible thus decreasing interaction between speakers and the room,” its website states.

Silent Pound used a gradient type low frequency (LF) module in its system and results were astonishing: 3x less acoustic power radiation to the room compared with traditional closed enclosure speakers emitting low frequency sound in all directions. This particular LF technical solution allowed for noticeable decrease in room resonance within the lowest frequencies with no additional room treatment.

Mid-frequency range plays a crucial part in recreating a sound stage, which is why we’ve paid a great deal of attention to designing mid- and high-frequency range part of the system. To address the mid-range frequency (MF) correction of directivity in the lower part of MF range, we’ve created a unique acoustic enclosure, which allowed to find optimal acoustic balance between MF and LF. Careful experiments and calculations led to significantly more detailed soundstage when compared to traditional systems.

MF-HF range is recreated by a mathematically modelled compact horn of our own original design tuned to match MF. The horn features highest technical specs and and sounds very natural without any additions characterized by improperly designed horns, its website adds.

At the Northern AV Show, Silent Pound will be demoing with its partner, Perreaux.
