A group of audiophiles was treated to an afternoon of great music at the Goldmund showroom on ‘Lorong CMY’ in Sungei Wang Plaza today.

Flying in from Estonia were Alfred Vassilkov, the Chief Designer and Founder of Estelon, who was on his first visit to Malaysia, and Ilias Koutromanos, the Chief Commercial Officer of Estelon.

John Yew, the boss of CMY Audio & Visual, who is the Estelon distributor in Malaysia, had set up a very high end system comprising a Goldmund Eidos Reference SACD player, Goldmund Eidos streamer, Goldmund Mimesis Excellence preamp and Goldmund 1800 Telos monoblocks driving the Estelon Extreme Mk II Special Edition speakers. Cables were from Siltech and accessories included a power distributor from Shunyata and a grounding box from Entreq.

Various songs were played and inbetween the demo sessions, Alfred spoke about the history of his company and the techniques involved in making the speakers.

The unique feature of the Estelon Extreme Mk II Special Edition speaker is that the front module which has the mid-bass, mid and tweeter drivers can move up and down 30 cm in nine stops with a motor that can be controlled by a remote control. This makes it possible to adjust the speakers according to ceiling height.

Alfred explained that most speakers in the market cannot adapt to rooms with different ceiling height. Also, the tweeter can be moved back and forth by a motor by 5 mm to adjust for time alignment.

The Estelon Extreme Mk II is very tall speaker.

Here’s a video of how the front module can move up and down vertically:
