Last year, if you recall, Willy’s photos of the show gals were erased and I had to go through all the pictures in my SD card to look for shots of the gals only to find out that I had more photos of amplifiers and speakers than the beautiful gals. That got me wondering if there was anything wrong with me and I was worried as to whether I had my priorities right…
So this year, whenever I bumped into the show gals, I made it a point to ask them to pose for me and I took photos of them – just to prove that I am still a regular guy. Oh, by the way, there were some nice looking speakers and CD players and amplifiers too…
Guess who I saw at CMY’s room? Well, I took a photo of her first before the Naim Statement pre and power amps…
Oh yes, we are still posting on the Kuala Lumpur International AV Show… Now, we move our attention back to the components that matter to audiophiles – the speakers, amps and CD players.
From Taiwan, the Toku&Gawa speakers, featuring full-range drivers, looked very good with a natural wood finish.
The Gato components looked good too with nice curves.
Another Gato component.
The Franco Serblin Accordo speakers looked architectural.
The Devialet was so shiny that it was difficult to take a nice photo of it without its top panel acting like a mirror. It looked good and so did its remote control.
The Estelon standmount speakers looked curvaceous.
The Penaudio speakers also had a nice natural wood finish.
This is the first kidney-shaped CD player I have ever seen. It is the Consonance Droplet CD player.
The AM 8335 Mk II power amp looked like something from a science lab.
What’s Mickey Mouse doing on top of a Mission speaker? It is the Entreq Vibe Eater speaker tuning device shaped like a mouse.
Eugene Ngoh, the veteran who has worked for numerous dealers including Asia Sound and Swedish Statement, has opened his own showroom in Amcorp Mall, Petaling Jaya.

After the Kojo Technology Crystal Ep virtual grounding plugs improved the sound when fixed to the black terminals of my ATC speakers, I tried the third plug with RCA cap on my preamp. I couldn't find any unused RCA input in my streamer/transport, DAC or power amp, so I had to use the tube Lamm LL2 Deluxe preamp for the test.

Kenix Chua of Begins Acoustic gave me the opportunity to try grounding speakers when she handed me three Kojo Technology Crystal Ep virtual grounding plugs on the last day of the Kuala Lumpur International AV Show last weekend. Two of them had spades while the third had an RCA plug. I was told to plug them into the black terminals of the speakers or an unused black RCA jack of the preamp, DAC or streamer.
