WAVE AV Experience 2026 which was held from Sept 25-27 at the Royale Chulan Damansara Hotel in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, saw the return to the Malaysian market of some famous marques like Magico speakers and EMM Labs pre and power amplifiers. These brands have not been seen in the Malaysian market for many years.
It also saw the introduction of relatively unknown brands like Qualio IQ speakers from Poland and Dutch & Dutch speakers from Holland. Also introduced were famous brands like Lampizator, which had its Golden Gate-5 DAC on display, and Dan D’Agostino which had its Pendulum integrated amp on demo.
Magico and EMM Labs were reintroduced to the Malaysian market by Singaporean company Simplicity Control and Malaysian-company Victoire Sense Enterprise has been appointed its dealer. EMM Labs will be handled by Eugene Ngoh’s Magic Sound Empire.
During WAVE 2026, a pair of Magico S2 floorstanders was driven by a Gryphon Diablo 333 integrated amp in Victoire Sense Enterprise’s room.
In Simplicity Control’s room on the second floor, a no-holds-barred system was set up comprising Magico S5 speakers, EMM Labs MTRX-V2 1000W monoblocks, EMM Labs PREi preamp, EMM Labs DV2i streamer/DAC, EMM Labs TXi CD transport, Keces IQRP1500 isolating power conditioner, Keces P9 Linear Power Supply, Keces E-Wave network switch, Xeron Vision Net 8 network switch, David Laboga Akoya LAN cable and David Laboga GR speaker cables.
Over in HiFi Creations’ room the unusual Qualio IQ speakers from Poland were on demo. These speakers are a hybrid design with the mid driver and AMT tweeter attached to an acrylic panel in an open-baffle and dipole design while the woofer is housed in a conventional bass-reflex box. The speakers were driven by a Dan D’Agostino Pendulum integrated amp.
Finally, in Uniq Fidelity’s room, the Dutch & Dutch 8C active speakers were on demo. These are also unusual as the front baffle houses the tweeter and mid-driver while there are two woofers located on the back baffle. There are vents on the sides of the cabinet to allow the back wave of the mid-driver to flow out. The speakers have built-in DSP and for the show the EQ was tuned to flat responsee.
