This is the day when things finally got exciting for me! I had made my way to the 2nd floor trade rooms, where they actually had demo systems with music. Still, there are some display only rooms, but overall this is much better than the mostly pure audio porn I experienced in first 2 days. Some demos remained more meaningful than others, so here goes:
The Kondo & Kaiser Acoustics room treated visitors to some very nice, lush sounding music, with a very organic quality
Kaiser Acoustics were showcasing their Kawero speaker design, and Kondo tubes amps was bare naked for all to appreciated
MBL representative explaining the finer points of the junior system
While the MBL 101 X-treme big bad boy was just sitting there all quiet
Vienna Acoustics speakers demo-ed with Vincent tube electronics
Vincent produced a special version of Frank Blohbaum’s Multiplied Transconductance amplifier
More Vincent tube gear
My first “Best Sound of Show” Day 3! This system is made up of Wadax Ultimate DAC, pre amp and ARC tube mono block powering a pair of Wilson Alexia speakers. All cabling is Fono Acoustica. The sound was smooth, airy, with a rich tone. Very easy on the ears and soul. Excellent system with classical music
What’s this? Coffee machine? No Wadax phono stage, DAC & pre amp!
The FiiO R7 is to me at least, a first of its kind. A product that merges a player, digital to analogue convertor, preamplifier and headphone amplifier. All of this is crammed into a uniquely designed chassis that would standout while blending in seamlessly on a desktop setup. Offered in both black and white, the FiiO R7 is by far the most fascinating product currently available in the FiiO catalogue.
About a dozen Taiwanese companies are taking part in the coming Kuala Lumpur International AV show to be held on October 27-29 (Friday – Sunday) at The Gardens Hotel, Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur.
It is double happiness at YY Sound Systems' showroom in Glo Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, as there are two demo systems with different sonic flavours set up.
