On the first day, I went up to the 6th and 5th floors of Vistana Hotel first and walked down the stairs to the third floor and also managed to visit a few rooms on the second floor. I heard some good sounds and saw some snippets of good movies. I have already come up with an initial list of ‘Best of show’ candidates, but I shall visit some rooms a few more times tomorrow to confirm if what I heard and saw on the first day of the AV show were really deserving of being considered to be among the best.
One thing that struck me this time was the high number of exhibitors from Taiwan with unfamiliar brands, including one that had a clone of the venerable LS3/5A. I was also surprised by the sight of a pair of Martin Logan ESL X speakers — it has been quite a long time since I last saw Martin Logans in the AV show.
